This page is a collection of questions, policies and miscellaneous information which is relevant to the larp.

Why was this price point chosen?

Included in the price is four meals, two nights’ lodging, and props and prints for the game itself. The majority of our budget is spent on food and lodging. We do not need a fancy location for Dumpster Pyre, since the fictional larp set within Dumpster Pyre doesn’t take place in a very fancy location either.

Does in-game physical and sexual violence take place?

Dumpster Pyre has mechanics for in-game physical violence, centered around the victim rule (the victim decides the injury). However, the larp does not feature “on-screen” sexual violence: Dumpster Pyre only plays with the consequences and fallout of such events happening.

What is the Media policy?

Dumpster Pyre: the Masquerade uses the following media policy:

  • A photographer may be present. Other participants may not record any photos/videos without the explicit permission of anyone in view.
  • Footage of Dumpster Pyre: the Masquerade may not be distributed to any non-participants without written permission from everyone visible in the photo/video. This includes hosting footage on storage platforms that other people can access.
  • Anyone can object to their pictures being distributed by mailing address. Note that this means pictures will not be published. We will ask the photographer not to photograph you, but photos may accidentally be taken nonetheless.
  • Dumpster Pyre: the Masquerade and its footage may not be used for any educational, scientific, or journalistic purposes without informing the organisers during registration.

Dark pack

Although Dumpster Pyre: The Masquarade is not intended to be a World of Darkness larp, much less an official World of Darkness product, certain elements of the World of Darkness IP are included due to the nature of the stories we used as inspiration. In the effort of respecting their IP, this larp thus adheres to the rules set by World of Darkness’ owners for fan works. We therefore include the following notice:
